II. The Anatomy of Failure
1. The Flat Failure: A Keyboard That Couldn’t Speak
- Trigger: The hard-model review of June 19, 2000 exposed catastrophic defects. The top surface was entirely flat — 0° of tilt — so the infrared emitter fired parallel to the floor instead of within the 3–15° vertical window needed to reach the Galaxy Gateway receiver on top of the television (Sony benchmarks ran 7–11°).
